TRIATHLON : 4TH MILITARY WORLD GAMES

Mumbai is hosting the Most Elaborate and the Infrastructure Intensive Discipline of Triathlon for The 4 TH MILITARY WORLD GAMES on 21 October 2007 at GIRGAUM CHOWPATTY and MARINE DRIVE .

The Council of International MILITARY SPORTS (CISM) Conducts Competitions of ITS 128 member Countries Every Four Years and The Event is Second Only to The Olympics in Terms of Magnitude and level of Competition

Till Now The CISM has Conducted Three Editions of The MILITARY WORLD GAMES with in Europe and this is The First Time that The Fourth Edition of The Games is being held outside Europe . The First Time an Asian Country is Playing host to These Games and also The First Time that the Games are being held in India . it is thus A Matter of Great Pride for India indeed, Especially when the Event is a Prelude to The Forthcoming Youth Common Wealth Games, The Common Wealth Games and also the BEIJING OLYMPICS, both in Terms of Preparations for conduct and participation.

The Event of Triathlon Comprises Each Athlete to First Swim 1.5 km, Then Cycle for 40 km and then Run for 10 to Complete for Over 51.5 km Race area. The Event is being held at GIRGAUM CHOWPATTY AND MARINE DRIVE on the 21 October 2007 at 6 am.

The Athletes will be Swimming for 1.5km in sea just in Front of Chowpatty. on Coming out of the Sea, The Athletes will pick up Cycles Parked on The Beach and will go Cycling For Five Laps all The Way From Sandhurst foot Bridge to Nariman Point. The Athletes will Again Place their Cycles on the Beach and Run for 10 km on the MARINE DRIVE .

The Girgaum Chowpatty and MARINE DRIVE Will be Fully Decked up for the Event. Decorative Gantries,Barricading, Flags, Banners and Inflatables Will Add Up to The Festivity of The Event When 136 Athletes From all Across the Globe Will Cycle at Speeds Reaching 60 km per Hour and We will Have The Good Fortune of Witnessing The First Ever International Triathlon of This Magnitude of Participation.

The Indian Team Comprises Athletes From The Bombay Sappers Training Centre Situated at Pune, where The Commandant, Brigadier Vinod Kumar Bhatt, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal is Ensuring that The Indian Team, Puts up a Good Show.

The Event of Triathlon at Marine Drive and Girgaum Chowpatty is a Spectacle That Will be Available to The Mumbaikars only on the Morning of 21 October 2007 and it Will be such a Loss if one Misses out this Sole Opportunity to witness top World Athletes Compete For The Gold Medal.
