Lt Gen Aditya Singh, PVSM, AVSM**, ADC visits Hyderabad

Lt Gen Aditya Singh,PVSM, AVSM**, ADC GOC-in-C Southern Command visited Hyderabad to review the progress in preparations for the Military World Games-2007 on 11 Jan 2007. Addressing a Press Conference, he briefed the media about forthcoming CISM Military World Games - 2007. 

Briefing reporters on Monday about the arrangements for the mega event, General Officer Commanding-in-chief, Southern Command, Lieutenant General Aditya Singh said that 73 countries, 3,181 athletes and 1,552 delegates and officials have confirmed their participation so far.

The number of competitors is likely to touch 5,000 while the number of countries could cross 100, he said.

The Military Games will have 16 events, including Military pentathlon, Shooting, Military Firing, Parachuting, Football, Handball, Judo, Volleyball, Athletics, Swimming, Sailing, Triathlon, Boxing, Wrestling, Hockey and Kabaddi.

Several Olympic medal winners and star sportsmen, including World Judo champion Sophie Mondiere, SV Alios (parachuting), S Bibard (shooting 300m), European champions Stamislavs Oiijars (110 m hurdles), Henri Hakkinen (shooting) and Christina Bengsissan (shooting) will be seen in action.

The Military World Games will be held under the aegis of International Military Sports Council or Consell International du Sport Militaire(CISM) (CISM). Armed forces of 127 countries are members of CISM, based in Brussels.
